Hi all! I recently bought Linux Robotics by D Jay Newman, McGraw Hill, ISBN 0-07- 144484-X & I'm still working my way (slowly!) through it. The robot in the book is built around a mini-ITX board with mostly off-the-shelf sensors, microcontrollers and actuators, but does use large heavy sealed lead acid batteries. The programming uses neural networks, image processing, mapping & planning and text to speech and speech to text. Has anyone here built an 'autonomous' robot around a Linux computer? Or even in the process of building one? Also I'm on the look out for any equipment that might be applicable to robotics, v.cheap if possible!
