Re: Re: [edlug] Anything going on Monday or Tuesday (July 26/27)?

My understanding of the law (IANAL, nor a Scot, nor a parent) is that it is illegal for someone under 18 to buy or be bought a drink. There are some exceptions for drinks served with table meals but we can ignore those. Entry to licensed premises is also at the licensee's discretion.

I think 16 is safe for entry (possibly you can also buy shandy, but I would forgo this 'privilege' if I were you). So I would say it is OK to turn up so long as you do not look young for your age and do not attempt to buy or consume alcohol.

Certainly when I was last there on a Friday there seemed to be a clique of people buying brightly coloured drinks in plastic tubes who looked to be about 15 (but it has been a while since I was 15 so I'm not a reliable judge of these things).

Hi all,
I too am still to attend an Edlug meeting and am currently
working in Edinburgh..

I thought the month between was a bit much and with the August meeting
being an uncertainty what with the festival, etc this may be a good
idea?

Do you guys think it would be ok for me to possibly tag along too? The
one problem is I am still only 16 and I'm not sure if the Holyrood, etc
are going get upset about this? Anyone any ideas..
