[edlug] Backup/Mirroring solutions

I have a small home network, a linux desktop and a linux server (apache/mysql/samba/nfs ect..) and
some windows machines. I am looking for an easy way to backup some files from the linux desktop to
the server and visa versa.

I would like to copy all new music files from my music folder on the desktop to the server i.e. not
copy and overwrite the entire music folder on the server. this is in case i delete some music on my
desktop by accident and can restore it even if the backup has been run. Unfortunatley my server
doesnt have enough disk space to do a grandfather-father-son style backup.

And similarily I would like to backup the web content on my server to my desktop. The same proccess
but in reverse.

I had a quick glance at the man page for cp. I noticed it had an --update option. Would a litle
shell script using cp --update and anacron work ok? Or are their and programs out their for this
purpose, I had a look at rsync briefly, looked like it may be suitable.

Thanks

ck
